Enrollment Status
From UConn Student Financial Aid Services
Enrollment status is based on the following credit requirements:
| Undergraduate Students | Graduate Students |
|---|---|
| 12 or more credits = full time | 9 or more credits = full time |
| 9-11 credits = 3/4 time | Graduate Assistantship (6+ credits) or Graduate Research Course (3 credits) = full-time |
| 6-8 credits = half time | 5-8 credits = half-time |
Reminder: To be considered for most forms of aid, students must be enrolled full time.
Students with Disabilities
Students, whose less than full time enrollment is certified by the Center for Students with Disabilities, will be packaged for eligible aid based on cost of attendance and federal regulations. Students should be aware that federal regulations require that Federal Pell Grant funds be prorated based on the number of credits taken, and that the student financial aid budget is reduced accordingly. To borrow under the Federal Stafford Loan program, or to have a previous loan deferred, students must be enrolled for a minimum of six credits. Students should keep in mind that, with the exception of the Pell Grant, it is the University's policy that students must be enrolled at least half time to receive financial aid.
