UConn will use this figure to determine the types and amounts of financial aid a student may receive. Provide Verification Documents, If Required
Approximately 30% of students are selected by the Department of Education to verify the data submitted on the FAFSA. These usually include:
- Your signed 2007 federal tax form and all supporting schedules,
- Your parents' signed 2007 federal tax form (if you are a dependent student),
- Your spouse's signed 2007 federal tax form (if you are married and did not file a joint return,)
- Copies of your 2007 W2 forms,
- Copies of your parents’ 2007 W2 forms (if you are a dependent student),
- The appropriate Verification Worksheet.
These sometimes include:
- Additional documentation relating to your specific situation and
- Asset forms reporting the value of your assets
- Do not send these documents unless UConn requests them.
Your SAR will indicate whether or not your file has been selected for verification. In addition, you may access the Student Administration System to determine which documents are required. The preferred method to send requested documents is to fax them to 860-486-6629. Please allow 2 - 4 weeks for processing following our receipt of ALL required documents. All of your federal and need-based aid will be on hold until verification is resolved.
Financial aid awards may be adjusted as a result of the verification process.

Complete Loan Processing Requirements
After accepting a loan, you may be required to complete additional documentation for loan processing. The lender will notify you in writing how and when these requirements should be met. Please do not submit any loan forms until the lender instructs you to do so (most requirements can be met online.)
Entrance Counseling certifies the borrower understands his/her rights and responsibilities. Completion of the Master Promissory Note (MPN) certifies your agreement to repay the full principal and interest balance of the loan. The Federal Stafford Loan MPN and the Federal Perkins Confidential Loan Data forms require personal references. Some alternative loans may require the designation of a co-borrower.
