Students participating in the Cooperative Education Program will not be eligible for financial aid, including scholarships and work-study, during the semester of their work assignment. Co-op students who are also enrolled for credits may be eligible for Federal Stafford Loan and Federal Pell Grants depending on enrollment status.

Financial aid recipients who need to take credits at another institution and have those credits count toward their final (day 10) financial aid awards at UConn, must submit a written request, and receive approval for a consortium agreement from our office. This agreement must be initiated prior to the start of classes each semester. Please contact our office for additional information.

Full-time students pursuing a second undergraduate degree will be considered for Federal Stafford Loan and Work-Study Program funds. Part-time students pursuing a second undergraduate degree will be considered for Federal Stafford Loan.

Image:Generic.svg Special Circumstances

If your financial situation has changed significantly from the information you provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and the situation falls into one of the following categories, you may be eligible to have your financial aid package reevaluated. All awards are based on funds availability.

  • Changes in family structure (e.g., death, divorce or legal separation)
  • Changes in untaxed income (e.g., social security, child support)
  • Exceptional medical/dental expenses not covered by insurance

Please submit a letter outlining your circumstances to the OSFAS. The OSFAS will review your situation, and if it falls into one of the above categories, you will receive a request for documentation. PLEASE NOTE: Changes in employment (e.g., loss of job, loss of overtime, change in job) will not be considered.

Students who cancel their enrollment for the fall semester will have their original financial aid awards, including scholarships, cancelled for the year.

For students who return for the spring semester, eligibility for spring financial aid will be re-evaluated based on spring admission status, enrollment status, partial year attendance and the availability of funds.
