Verification
If your FAFSA is selected for verification by the U.S.Department of Education at any time during the award year, you are required to submit documentation to substantiate the data reported on the FAFSA. Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will indicate if verification is required. Our office will request any required information from you via mail or HuskyMail. Please respond promptly to information requests. Do not submit income tax forms unless specifically requested to do so.
Incoming freshmen awards are based on FAFSA results, but are considered estimates until the verification process is completed.
If the OSFAS does not receive all required verification documentation by November 1, all financial aid will be cancelled.
Continuing student awards are completed after all requested information is received. Office policy prohibits the awarding and/or disbursing of financial aid until the verification process has been completed. Financial aid awards may be adjusted as a result of the verification process. You will then be notified to view the changes via the Student Administration System (SA System).
Outside Resources
The award amounts indicated on the Award Summary page represent the amount of financial aid currently being offered to you. Should you receive any resources not indicated on your award summary page, such as scholarships, grants, veteran's benefits, tuition waivers or fellowships, it is your responsibility to notify the OSFAS immediately. The financial aid amounts are subject to revision or cancellation as additional information is received by our office. If you take a leave of absence and were awarded a scholarship by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, please notify the OSFAS in writing.
State Grant/State Scholarship Awards
If you will receive a State Grant/State Scholarship not listed on your Award summary page, please advise our office in writing immediately. Submit copies of all State Grant/State Scholarship notifications received. You must also respond to all requests for information received from state agencies (i.e., income tax forms).
