FINANCIAL AID TIPS FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR COLLEGE GRADUATES (TCPCG)

APPLY for SUMMER 2019 FINANCIAL AID

    • Students must be officially admitted to the UConn Graduate School before they will be awarded any financial aid.
    • TCPCG students admitted for the summer 2019 semester will need to complete a 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)prior to June 30th, 2019. UConn’s school code is 001417.
    • During the summer sessions, students enrolled in the TCPCG Program may be considered for the following types of financial aid:
      • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
      • Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan
      • Private (Alternative) Loans
    • Students enrolled in the TCPCG program must be registered for a minimum of 4.5 credits during the summer to be considered for summer financial aid.
    • The maximum amount of financial aid awarded will be determined by a student’s summer cost of attendance budget. The summer cost of attendance budget includes the direct cost for the actual academic credits for which a student is enrolled, as well as estimated indirect costs (i.e., room, board, books and miscellaneous expenses).

APPLY for FALL 2019 and SPRING 2020 FINANCIAL AID

    • In order to apply for financial aid for fall 2019 and spring 2020, students must complete a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UConn’s school code is 001417
    • Students who submit the 2019-2020 FAFSA prior to UConn’s On Time Deadline will be considered for the following types of financial aid:
      • Federal Work-Study
      • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan
      • Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan
      • Private (Alternative) Loans
    • Students must be enrolled for a minimum of nine (9) credits per semester to be considered for Federal Work-Study. Students must be enrolled for a minimum of 4.5 credits per semester to be considered for Federal Direct Stafford Loans.
    • Questions regarding the application process or eligibility requirements should be referred to the Office of Student Financial Aid Services. Students should be sure to identify themselves as being enrolled in the TCPCG Program. A member of the Client Services staff will provide assistance.

Next Steps:

    • You will receive an email at your UConn email address notifying you of your financial aid award. Upon receipt of this email, access the Student Administration System to review and take action on your financial aid award, and complete all steps on the Financial Aid Action page.
    • If you are a first time Federal Direct Student loan borrower at UConn and you intend to accept your Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling on studentloans.gov.
    • If you are a first time Federal Graduate PLUS Loan borrower at UConn and you intend to accept your Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, complete the PLUS Master Promissory Note (PMPN) and the Graduate PLUS Entrance Counseling session on studentloans.gov.
    • You will also need to complete the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan Application for the fall/spring semesters (combined) and for the summer semester (separately) studentloans.gov.
